The Privacy and Security of sensitive personal information is top of mind across multiple industries and markets. The requirement for ever-increasing collaboration amongst disparate systems results in mounting risk and liabilities for those companies responsible for the management and protection of that data. PrivIT’s patent pending DAME (Distributed Application Middleware Engine) acts as a true Trusted Information Broker ensuring the security and privacy demanded by current and proposed privacy legislation.

The DAME technology has been successfully deployed within a variety of single vendor applications and in many jurisdictions. PrivIT now has the opportunity to advance interoperability through the implementation of its universal connectors that will enable multiple systems to take advantage of the DAME platform.
                                     
Privacy and Security are extremely closely entwined. While Security is about protecting data from outside threats of theft of the data or its interception, Privacy is about the use of the authorized access data by someone entrusted by the owner of the data to hold it. If a third party hacks a system, this is a security breach; if a physician views the data of a patient not under his or her care this is a privacy breach.

DAME conforms to the latest standards for privacy and security of electronic healthcare records namely the US Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act - Privacy Rule (HIPAA) and the Canadian Personal Information Protection and Electronics Document Act (PIPEDA).

These legislations establish the principles for the collection, use and disclosure of information that is part of healthcare service delivery (e.g. hospitals, clinics, physician practices, research data centres, pharmacies, private labs, etc.)

DAME - The Core of PrivIT and PrivIT Healthcare

The Distributed Application Middleware Engine (DAME), is at the core of PrivIT Healthcare’s product and services. The proprietary, patent-pending DAME Middleware application is leveraged to create specific products and services which enable healthcare stakeholders to share appropriate information, regardless of the source and location, in a time-sensitive manner with appropriate service providers in order to most efficiently and effectively deliver care.

To date PrivIT Healthcare has committed significant time and resources to the development of unique healthcare applications based on the DAME core through a process of applying the technology to meaningful projects, proving the concept through those applications, and improving, refining and validating the core technology based on outcomes.

DAME is a scalable technology built using innovative algorithms that introduce a paradigm shift in database storage and access. These patent-pending algorithms incorporate data ownership into the data transaction itself; this process allows a greater control on a per transaction basis for data collected using a single or multiple applications. It also renders the data inaccessible if separated from the application, while still maintaining access transaction data ownership. The privacy and security mechanisms embedded in the DAME middleware technology would enable PrivIT to easily and cost-effectively “securitize” and “privatize” third-party or in-house software applications
